Mission Statement
The mission of the Papillon Montessori School is to provide a rich educational experience for children that will inspire lifelong learners.

The mission is accomplished by maintaining an environment of honor, respect, and harmony that will assist the children in reaching their fullest potential.

We provide a Montessori curriculum that is holistic, flexible, and eclectic.

We develop a conscious awareness in order to foster a strong sense of community and cooperation with parents that will encourage involvement, education, and a peaceful experience.

We seek to embrace cultural and social diversity in our school community.

These are our core beliefs, and we will remain committed to them through the inevitable challenges of growth and change.

About Us
The Papillon Montessori School of Ringwood offers two Preprimary programs for children ages 2 through Kindergarten. Both programs are in a carefully prepared environment that promotes independence and mastery through repetition. Children possess extraordinary powers of mind that allows them to internalize information from their environment. Dr. Maria Montessori called this phenomenon “the absorbent mind”. We have prepared a well ordered setting offering opportunities for mastery in such areas as math, language, science, geography, sensorial, practical life, music and art. Montessori teachers are trained to observe each individual student and prepare activities that will call to the child; the result is joy, immense satisfaction, and excitement about learning.

One of the most striking aspects of our school is the peaceful atmosphere. There is a deep sense of respect felt throughout the classroom. By way of “grace and courtesy” exercises, the children learn conflict resolution and social skills that result in a cohesive community of children.

Multi-age grouping allows younger children to have continuous mentoring and older children the opportunity for leadership.

The youngest child may fill their days with activities centered in our Practical Life area. The main goal of this area is to learn to care of self, and care of the environment. Here they can enjoy flower arranging, care of plants, food preparation, spooning and pouring, or silver polishing. These activities appeals to their sense of order, naturally lengthen their concentration, develop coordination, and create independence, while setting the foundation for future reading and writing. The Sensorial materials educate their visual, auditory, gustatory, and tactile senses while simultaneously preparing them for math.

We offer three, four and five half day or  full day programs. We also offer early care, after care and day care.

We are consistent with our belief that every experience is a learning experience. The children have an opportunity for working independently, with a classmate, or in a group. They are offered opportunities to lead and to follow, seeking a balance that facilitates their personal growth.

The aim of Montessori education is to foster competent, responsible citizens who are lifelong learners.

Our Teaching Facilities
When you walk into a Montessori classroom, the first thing you will notice is that everyone is busy and interested in their work. One child is counting beads, others may be collaborating on a puzzle map, and in the corner of the room a teacher is introducing a small group of children to a new Language activity. Each classroom is designed to provide an environment where children will fulfill their natural curiosity about the world around them.

The Faculty and Staff
We are proud to say that the teachers at our school are certified in the Montessori Method of teaching.

Our teachers will be happy to answer any of your questions regarding your children. Preparation of the environment and keen observation of each child’s individual progress by the teachers fosters a natural progression of development in the classroom.

Our assistants/interns are an invaluable asset with the day to day function of the classroom. They, as well as the teachers, are responsible for the care and maintenance of the classroom in the education of your child.
